The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) conducted further monitoring on Airservices Australia’s (Airservices) progress on delivering its capacity to effectively monitor and publicly report on compliance with Noise Abatement Procedures (NAPs).
In June 2026, the ANO reported to the Airservices Board. Concerns with the identification of flights in relation to NAPs, non-compliance with NAPs, and how Airservices addresses NAP non-compliance remain. The ANO notes potential improvements in NAP reporting and monitoring are under development and some progress on reforming internal administration of NAPs was made.
The Board rejected the ANO’s recommendations that Airservices develop a policy on how it responds to non-compliance with NAPs and for continued monitoring of progress by the ANO for the reasons set out in the Board’s response of October 2026.
