January-March 2025 Quarterly Report

The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) received a total of 3,080 complaints during the quarter, an increase from 2,551 complaints in the previous quarter. This includes 3041 non-actionable complaints, accounting for almost 99% of the complaints received, and 39 actionable complaints. Of the 3,041 non-actionable complaints, 2,947 were raised by two complainants. The ANO carried forward 14 complaints on 1 January 2025. During this quarter (January-March 2025), the ANO closed 45 actionable complaints and therefore carried forward 7 complaints to April 2025.

October-December 2024 Quarterly Report

The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) received a total of 2,551 complaints during the quarter. This includes 2,480 non-actionable complaints and 71 actionable complaints. Of the 2,480 non-actionable complaints 2,371 were raised by two complainants. The ANO carried forward 22 complaints on 1 October 2024. During this quarter (October-December 2024), the ANO closed 79 actionable complaints, and therefore carried forward 14 complaints to January 2024.

July-September 2024 Quarterly Report

The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) received a total of 1,690 complaints during the quarter. This includes 1,573 non-actionable complaints and 117 actionable complaints. The ANO carried forward 16 complaints on 1 July 2024. During this quarter (July-September 2024), the ANO closed 111 actionable complaints, and therefore carries forward 22 complaints to October 2024.

April-June 2024 Quarterly Report

The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) received a total of 385 complaints during the quarter. This includes 316 non-actionable complaints and 69 actionable complaints. The ANO carried forward 12 complaints on 1 April 2024. During this quarter (April-June 2024), the ANO closed 65 actionable complaints, and therefore carries forward 16 complaints to July 2024.

January-March 2024 Quarterly Report

The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) received a total of 326 complaints during the quarter. This includes 211 non-actionable complaints and 115 actionable complaints. The ANO carried forward 28 complaints on 1 January 2024. During this quarter (January-March 2024), the ANO closed 131 actionable complaints, and therefore carries forward 12 complaints to April 2024.

October-December 2023 Quarterly Report

The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) received a total of 354 complaints during the quarter. This includes 251 non-actionable complaints and 103 actionable complaints. The ANO carried forward 21 complaints on 1 October 2023. During this quarter (October-December 2023), the ANO closed 96 actionable complaints, and therefore carries forward 28 complaints to January 2024.

The ANO continued to see complaints across a variety of airports, reflecting the increase in aircraft operations across Australia. However, the bulk of complaints continued to relate to Brisbane Airport with 54 actionable complaints and most non-actionable complaints.
