July-September 2023 Quarterly Report

The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) received a total of 1,326 complaints during the quarter. This includes 1,188 non-actionable complaints and 138 actionable complaints. The ANO carried forward 10 complaints on 1 July 2023. During this quarter (July-September 2023), the ANO closed 127 actionable complaints, and therefore carries forward 21 complaints to October 2023.

ANO Annual Report 2022-2023

Last year’s Annual Report noted the historical failure of Airservices to adequately engage with the impacted community prior to the implementation of new flight paths. Brisbane was the latest example and it continued to dominate complaints to the ANO through this year.

April-June 2023 Quarterly Report

The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) received a total of 1,713 complaints during the quarter. This includes 1,595 non-actionable complaints and 118 actionable complaints. The ANO carried forward 21 complaints on 1 April 2023. During this quarter (April-June 2023), the ANO closed 129 actionable complaints, and therefore carries forward 10 complaints to July 2023.

January-March 2023 Quarterly Report

As reported last quarter, the Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) has improved its reporting by capturing data on all complaints received, rather than only reporting those on which the ANO could take action under the Charter. July-September 2022 Quarterly Report

The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) carried forward 13 complaints on 1 July 2022. During this quarter (July-September 2022), the ANO received 140 new complaints, closed 140 complaints, and therefore carries forward 13 complaints to October 2022.

ANO Annual Report 2021-2022

Complaints to the ANO surge when new flight paths are implemented. This occurred following flight path changes at Perth, Hobart, and the Sunshine Coast airports. Historically high numbers of complaints were received last year and this year due to new flight paths in Brisbane.

April-June 2022 Quarterly Report

The Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) carried forward 33 complaints on 1 April 2022. During this quarter (April-June 2022), the ANO received 222 new complaints, closed 242 complaints, and therefore carries forward 13 complaints to July 2022. Of the open cases carried forward to July 2022, the oldest complaint was received in February 2022.
